The New York State Canal Corporation, the lead sponsor of the conference, along with our other sponsors, have provided the means by which the WCC 2010 Planning Committee plans to offer the following events.

Commercial Slip-Buffalo, NY

The conference opens with a Sunday public kick-off event.
A boat parade led by the historic, fully restored,1921 motorship the DAY PECKINPAUGH and various working tugs and vessels of the New York State Canal Corporation, private marine business tug boats, trip and hire boats, and pleasure boats that will cruise north on the Erie Canal’s Genesee River Arm to Cornhill Landing where the vessels will be open for inspection by the public. Cornhill Landing will be the staging area for vendors, food, musicians, tours of the aqueduct, and tours of the Cornhill neighborhood and downtown.

Monday through Thursday formal sessions convene at the Rochester Plaza Hotel.

Presentations of interest for professional waterway managers and engineers, historians, scholars, teachers, tourism and marketing experts and enthusiasts.

The formal sessions will be augmented by study tours to Commercial Slip and Buffalo Harbor, canal towns across Monroe County, and much more.

Friday 24 September the organizers plan to offer three post conference tours:

WEST - to the Lockport Locks and “Flight of 5” plus Niagara Falls, Canada.

EAST - to the west end of the Cayuga and Seneca Canal with at least one visit to
a winery on Seneca Lake OR a two day boat cruise from Rochester to Seneca Falls.
